| Abstraksi | : | Abstract Parent education programs are increasingly recognized as an important aspect of family intervention. Although differences among parenting models exist, many programs include common factors that can be ascribed to an Adlerian or Dreikursian model of parent education. Seven parenting programs were selected to provide an overview of current models and trends in parent education. Attention is given to the development and theoretical basis of each program. Specific interventions, goals, and implementation methods are highlighted and an emphasis is placed on similar factors. Relevant research is also included to provide an overview of the empirical support underlying each program. The authors conclude by highlighting the core aspects found in nearly all of these models. In addition, a renewed emphasis is placed on the theoretical utility and applicability of the Adlerian and Dreikursian parenting models in contemporary society. |
