| Abstraksi | : | Abstract Clients with a limited capacity for consequential thinking and histories of failure to learn from mistakes often have difficulty responding to specific cognitively oriented interventions (e.g., cognitive restructuring) largely because of a mismatch between the intervention and the client's developmental level. In this article, the author describes a systems model of Adlerian personality development that can be helpful in determining whether specific cognitively oriented interventions are appropriate given the client's developmental level. A specific intervention that fosters consequential thinking is presented. A composite case example and transcription illustrates these points. |
