Faculty of Letters: English Department Diploma Ill Gunadarma University Jakarta : May, 00 "A psychological approach to Quentin Compson in William Faulkner's Novel The Sound and the Fury" is a very interesting subject to discuss. The strong interest in this novel stimulates the writer wants to explore further about the Psychological aspect of it novel and focussed in Question's character. "The Sound and the Fury" told us about family love and virginity. The main character in this novel are Quentin, Candace, Jason and Benjamin Compson. Quentin was a young protagonist with a high intelligence and his mind moves so quickly from one idea to another idea, illusion, memories. He is also a thoughtful, hypersensitive, and ineffectual boy, but finally he chooses to commit suicide to the end his life.
