Abstraksi:To support the implementation of 2013 Curriculum, the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic ofIndonesia launched an English textbook for seventh graders titled When English Rings the Bell. This textbook aims to help teachers to make the lesson in line with the curriculum. Thus an evaluation on the textbook is needed to examine whether the textbook meets the criteria of a good textbook and the objectives of curriculum 2013. This study employed a content analysis using a textbook evaluation criteria from AbdelWahab. All contents of the textbook were interpreted and analyzed based on AbdelWahab evaluation form. The data is divided into four criteria: I) physical and utilitarian of textbooks 2) efficient outlay of objectives and supplementary materials 3) learning-teaching content, and 4) language skills. This content analysis is all about interpreting, finding out and analyzing the significant meaning of the data. The results show that When English Rings the Bell has included 2013 Curriculum objectives, except one competency, that is the youth who contributes for global world. Nevertheless the textbook has shortcomings in the portion of language skills. It only focuses on speaking and writing skills whereas other skills (listening, reading, vocabulary and grammar) are lack of exposure.
