| Abstraksi | : | This research was conducted to design a measurement instrumentation to measure and determine the impacts of electromagnetic wave radiation on human bodies from cellular telephone technology, especially from that which is based on GSMIOCS techniques. The constructed measurement instrumentation consist of an electromagnetic wave detector, a field-strength meter, an instrument to measure the temperature of a human head phantom, as well as a calculation model to analyze the rarJjption effects. To determine the existence of ionization radiation in cellular telephone technology, this research also amployed a Geiger-Muller detector. The handphone (HP) radiation signal weakened and undetectable by the detector at the distance of 6 meter and longer. When the HP was activated around the phantom with water medium for 6 minutes, the phantom temperature increased with the maximum increment of 0.407 °C on sensor 1 (a temperature sensor closest to the HP). This system . made the display of radiation patterns of the HP's signal possible. When the HP was activated around the phantom with tapioca solution medium for 6 minutes, the phantom temperature increased with the maximum increment of 0.882 °C on sensor 1 (the temperature sensor closest to the HP). Both of these temperature increment are still below the permissible temperature increase threshold, which is 1°C. Here, the tapioca solution was used to simulate a human brain. This research results are very useful for engineers who work in the electromagnetic wave based communication systems, as well as for people who live in the surrounding BTS (Base Transmission Station) area. |
