| Abstraksi | : | In order to increase the transmission capacity of an optical fiber probably more suitable WOM, could be employed, since the increasing the Number of Wavelengths will increase the transmission capacity as well without having to lay a new fiber. By using wavelength division multiplexing (WOM) technology several wavelengths, or light colors, simultaneously can be multiplexed to bit rate from 2.5 to 40 Gbps. Each optical channel occupies its own wavelength. At the receiving end, utilizing a high resolution a grating or arrayed wave-guide gratings (AWGs) the wavelength are split or demultiplexed in to a polychromatic light array for 128channels, 25-GHzspacing . Typical crosstalk values reported for AWGs are in the order of -25dB for InP- based devices to better than -30dB for silica-based device. Through the improvements of the wave-guide fabrication technologies, crosstalk of less than -35 dB have been achieved, even in 64-ch, 5O-GHz-spacing A WG. Furthermore the optimization of the waveguide configuration can achieve good cross-talk characteristics (less than -20 dB)for this 128channels, 25-GHz-spacing AWG . Each which certies 128 signals with different wavelengths carriers, with different rate (OC-3, -12, -24, etc) and different format (SONET, SOH, A TM, data, etc) simultaneously, each was already multiplexed by TOM and FOM cascaded in the electronic sides and therefore added higher bit rates. A OWDM network with a mix of SONET signals operating at OC-48(2.5Gbps) and OC-192 (10 Gbps) has total capacity of over 40 Gbps. UOWOM terminals can carry up to 80 wavelengths of OC-48, a total of 200 Gbps, or 40 wavelengths of OC_192, a total of 400 Gbps, which is sufficient to transmit 90,000 volumes of an encyclopedia in one second. Whereas OWDM using 128-ch, 25-GHz-spacing A WG can combine multiple optical signals as a group of multiplexed signal by TOM and FOM and which is transported over a Single fiber |
