| Abstraksi | : | The objective of the study was to describe individual characteristic, communication activities, and communication barriers of rice farmers. The researcher analyzed the relationship between farmers individual characteristics and communication barriers according to the rice farmers in Oesao village, Kupang Regency. The study used quantitative to describe the relationship among variables in depth. The unit of analysis was rice farmer. Variables which were farmers/ characteristic (X1), farmers communication activity (X2), and communication barrier between agricultural extension and farmers (Y). Results of this study showed that 1) communication barriers that most farmers had were caring and solidarity, followed by prejudice, difference of expectation, and difference of needs, 2) experience of farmers was very significantly related to prejudice, barrier, caring, solidarity while it was significantly related to difference of needs as communication barrier, 3) Cosmopolitan farers characteristics were significantly related negatively to prejudice, difference of needs, caring, and solidarity. Characteristic of the level offarmers knowledge was significantly related negatively to all barriers of communication factors. Communication activities were significantly and very significantly related to barriers of communication that the farmers felt in Oesao Village, Kupang Regency. |
