| Abstraksi | : | Escherichia coli is a commensal bacteria living in the human and animal dig tive tracts. Many studies have been conducted on E. coli isolated from hum; animal, food, and water, while little is known about the presence and gene diversity of E. coli obtained from street foods. If the street foods are not hand! or processed properly, they may endanger the health of the children, becat E. coli contamination has known to be an agent causing diarrheal disease. this study, E. coli isolates from street foods of elementary school in Jaka especially North and South Jakarta were isolated and wereyconfimed with specific biochemistry and serology test. The serolo`w test was done us polivalent 01-011 antisera, monovalent 0111, and 026 antisera for E. c Genetic diversity analysis was done using enterobacterial repetitive interge consensus (1u;RIC)-PCR. Thirteen E. coli isolates were found from meals ; thirty-fourth from beverages. One isolate performed positive result in scrolv test using 0111. This study showed that street foods from Jakarta elemenl school are poor in sanitation and quality. While for genetic diversity analysi5 coli isolates showed an extensive genetic diversity even for isolates from same sample. The result indicated that ERIC-PCR analysis could be useful effective tool for rapid study of genetic |
