| Abstraksi | : | This research studied how Appreciative Inquiry (AI), compared to Problem Solving (PS) and control condition, could be more effective to induce common ingroup identity and perceived continuity in post-merged group. In an experimental lab study, 96 participants were divided to three conditions: AI, PS, and control. The result of one-way ANOV A revealed that in post-merging situation, groups in AI conditions had significantly different and highest level of common ingroup identity compared to PS and control. The result ofnonpararnetric statistic with Kruskall-Wallis test revealed that those three groups had significantly different level of perceived continuity. While Mann- Whitney test revealed that groups in AI conditions had significantly different and highest level of perceived continuity compared to PS and control condition. These results proved that AI was more effective in inducing common ingroup identity and perceived continuity compared to PS and no intervention in post-merger situation. The discussion would be focused on the social identity approach and AI. |
