Abstraksi:The original concept of lean construction came from the manufacturing industry that uses less of everything in production systems lead to "Lean Production". The concept of lean production recognises two types of activities in a production system: conversions activities which add value to the material or piece of information being transformed into a product and flows (inspection, waiting, moving), through which the conversion activities are bound together but which do not add value. The primary goal of lean production is to avoid or minimise the share of non value-adding activities, known as waste. The limited research carried out to date in Indonesia has been concerned only with materials on site, and mostly confined to a broad assessment of the effect of waste. However, waste may be regarded as the squandering of resources. This paper addresses the implementation of lean production concept in construction, the concept of waste in construction and a research in approaching lean construction concept to the Indonesian construction industry.
