There is an assumption that the Great mosque of Demak which has uniqueness in its exterior shape, with three roof levels, was established by Wailsongo. Walisongo, the nine apostles, have relation with the early Islamic spreading in Java land. They brought Islam to Javathrough mystical Sufi doctrine received by Javanese society in part. Islam in Java has alsoadapted and incorporated elements of traditional Javanese (animism and dinamism), Hinduism(and Buddhism). Therefore, the mosque, which had ever become the center of the first Islamickingdom activities, as a product of Islamic architecture has also basic forms and elementsinfluenced by traditional Javanese and Hindu (and Budha) architecture.
