Abstraksi:The theory of uniqueness has been invoked to explain attitudinal and behavioral nonconformity with respect to peer group, social-cultural as well as the development of a distinctive view of self via seeking novelty goods, adopting new products, acquiring scarce commodities. Present conceptual writing endeavors in psychology and consumer behavior that encompass I) the concept of need of uniqueness; 2) dilemma in social context; and 3) the measurement problem of need of uniqueness.
