| Abstraksi | : | The objective of this research is to design and implement a system, which is able to identify expired product using Optical Character Recognition (OAR) approach for inventory management purpose. This application is very important because product expired date represent one of the standard parameter of quality and become consumer indicator to take purchase decision. The expired date printed in the form of number, which is easy to be recognized. This matter is different with production code or product serial number, which is on generally in barcode form. The OCR system designed consist of three components of the main logical that is image scanner, OCR programming and interface of result. This study also develops software system and presents a system interface with user. System examination and implementation conducted by identifying some product labels, which consist of one until three information lines. The result of examination indicates that average precision of system identification is 95.41% and the average identifying duration for each letter is 0.533 second. |
