| Abstraksi | : | This paper reports the result of an investigation of soil erosion rates on a slightly slope of cultivated area in Ciawi, Bogor, using '37Cs technique. The objective of the present study is to evaluate the applicability of the 137Cs technique and choose the best conversion model to estimate the erosion/deposit rate. The top of a slope was chosen as a reference site. Three small cultivated sites were selected, namely Landuse I (15 x 25) m2, Landuse ll (17.5 x 20) m2, and Landuse Ill (40 x 50) m2. The erosion/deposit rates of individual sampling points were estimated using three conversion models, namely PM, MBM1, and MBM2. A comparison of the three models shows that PM yields the lowest value. The MBM1 and MBM2 give almost the same values, but MBM2 gives more reliable values because this conversion model considers the time-variant fallout of 137Cs input and the fate of the freshly deposited fallout before its incorporation into the plough layer by cultivation |
