Abstraksi:Blotong, a solid waste from cane-sugar factories, has unpleasant smell and hence has created environmental problems to community around the plant. Despite its disadvantages, blotong contains many organic materials that can be utilized as a filler of light brick. The objective of this research is to investigate the effect of adding blotong added and firing temperature to the physical properties of brick. Blotong and clay were mixed at various compositions and then burned in various firing temperatures. The result shows that the adding of blotong will increase shrinkage of length and porosihj, but decrease bulk density and the bending strength of the brick. On the other hand, increasing of firing temperature results in the increase of shrinkage of length, bulk density and bending strength, but decreases the porosity of the brick.
