| Abstraksi | : | The correctional sewices eome at the end ofthe criminal justice system. The interde¬pendent nature of law enforcement is demonstrated clearly by the relationship be¬tween the courts and the correctional system. No person can be sent to a correctional service such as probation or to a correctional institution which does not pass through acourt. The goal oftreatment in correctional institution is thatthe convict be exposed to experiences which will eradicate, or at least reduce measurably the influence of causal factors behind his criminal behaviour. It is intended that he be restored to the community better prepared to meet his own material and social needs within the framework of le,,al norms. Because this objective requires the convict to become "socialized" or "resocialized" through his acceptance of the Ie-31 norms as his own, persuasive techniques are emphasized. The observer and inspector judge has an important role in the correctional services at the end of the criminal justice system. |
