| Abstraksi | : | The purpose of this Vucer program is to design a rotary dryer for semi organic phosphate fertilizer, to maintain or even increase the capacity of production. Main components of rotary dryer are shell, fuel burner, gear of shell mover and motor for driving shell. Shell rotated at 4-8 fpm when it is being operated. This shell is equipped with baffles for improving the contact between hot gas and prilled fertilizer. Motor for driving shell is a single phase electric motor 1 HP equipped with reducer, chain and transmission gear. The rotary dryer is operable easily and safely. Drying using rotary dryer yields product of fertilizer with moisture content 13.1%, while drying under sunshine for 2-3 days yields 12.9% moisture content. Product with more homogenous of moisture is also obtained by using rotary dryer. The capacity of this rotary dryer is between 250 - 300 kg/h, depends on the desired moisture content and fuel burning rate. Fuel (kerosene) consumption is 2-3 liter/h. However, the rotary dryer has not been operated by C.V. Trubus Prima Indonesia for several reasons: 1) demand for semi organic phosphate fertilizer is decreasing, 2) drying under sunshine is cheaper, and (3) the rotary dryer will only be utilized on rainy season. |
