| Abstraksi | : | An expert system is a computer application that contains the knowledge, experience, and judgement of skilled professionals. It suggests the decisions that experts make and often followed by the reasoning behind them. Whereas many organizations viewed the expert systems as intriguing possibilities, many are now actively using them. The earliest of the Expert Systems were in computer science area, but it developed in considerable progress for business applications. The component of an expert systems are knowledge base, and inference engine. The knowledge base of an expert systems contains fact about a specific subject area and the rules that express the reasoning procedures of an expert on the subject. The inference engine processes the knowledge related to specific problem. It also makes associations and inferences resulting in recommended courses of action for users. The benefits of expert systems derived in terms of increased productivity, improved decision making and competitive advantage, but the major limitations arise from their maintenance of problems and developmental costs. |
