| Abstraksi | : | Maqasid al-Shariah becomes important subject in Islamic Economic literature due to its role as normative goal in Islamic economic. However, most of literatures regarding Maqasid al-Shariah and economic development are quite qualitative in its approach. Most of articles try to relate the concept of Maqasid al-Shariah and describe what condition that must be settled to acquire the objective of Shariah without looking at the interaction among each variable. Therefore, this paper tries to fill this gap by elaborates the concept of safeguarding wealth as one of five values of Maqasid al-Shariah and its role toward economic development. To analyze the effect of preserving wealth toward economic development, this paper test several variables which represent preserving of wealth toward economic de- velopment indicator. This study applies HDI as proxy of economic development and well-being indicator. We categorize preserving of wealth effort into two cat- egories namely real sector and financing sector. Based on econometric result, we find that Micro, Small and Medium enterprise employment rate (SME), Technol- ogy Achievement Index (TI), and Human Poverty Index (HPI) which represent real sector significant determine HDI. Besides, variables of financial sector such as investment rate positively significant determine HDI and average interest loan neg- atively significant determine HDI. Finally, the result is in line with our hypothesis that preservation of wealth in real sector and financial sector will increase well- being and economic development. |
