AN ANALYSIS OF EXISTENTIALIST FEMINISM DEPICTED IN THE MAD MAX FURY ROAD (2015) MOVIE
ABSTRAKSI :
Existentialist feminism is a branch of feminism that emphasizes women's freedom, choice, and self-definition in a patriarchal society. This research aims to analyze how existentialist feminist ideas are depicted in the movie Mad Max: Fury Road (2015). The study applies Simone de Beauvoir’s existentialist feminism as the theoretical framework. A descriptive qualitative method is used, focusing on selected dialogues to identify Beauvoir’s four existentialist strategies: women can work, become intellectuals, participate in social transformation, and surpass their limits. The researcher found a total of 20 data points consisting of: (1) women can go to work 8 data, (2) women can become intellectuals 4 data, (3) women can work as a socialist transformation for society 4 data, and (4) surpass their own limit 4 data. The results show that characters such as Furiosa and the wives of Immortan Joe demonstrate resistance against objectification and reclaim their subjectivity.
