AN ANALYSIS OF FIGURATIVE LANGUAGE USED IN THE SONG LYRICS OF “SWEET TALKER” ALBUM BY JESSIE J
ABSTRAKSI :
Figurative language is a language in which its words or expressions are different from the ordinary language. The aims of this study are to find out the kinds of figurative languages and the most dominant type that used in the song lyrics of album “Sweet Talker” by Jessie J. The source of this study is song lyrics from album“Sweet Talker” by Jessie J. This study used qualitative method to classify and analyze the sentences. The result of this study shows that there are 8 kinds of figurative languages that are found in the song lyrics, 14 hyperboles, 5 similes, 3 metonymies, 1 symbol, 1 metaphor, 1 litotes, 3 paradoxes and 2 personifications. The most dominant type that is used in the song lyrics by Jessie J’s “Sweet Talker” album is hyperbole.
