AN ANALYSIS OF MIGUEL'S PERSONALITY TRAITS AS THE MAIN CHARACTER IN COCO MOVIE
ABSTRAKSI :
This study examines Miguel, the main characters of the movie Coco according to Costa and McCrae's Big Five Personality Theory. It also looks at why Miguel possesses these prominent personality qualities. This study analyses scenes and speech from the movie Coco using a descriptive-qualitative method. There were 27 data from 5 types of personality traits in the study's results. Openness to experience 8 data, conscientiousness 3 data, extraversion 6 data, agreeableness 7 data, neuroticism 3 data. The most dominant personality trait among the 5 types is Openness to Experience. The reason why these dominant traits are present in Miguel's character, in accordance with the context of the film, is that Miguel's courage to break away from his family environment, which forbids him from playing music, stems from his belief that he has the soul of a musician within him. He also feels confident that he can achieve his dreams even with limited musical instruments, using only the guitar he made himself.
