AN ANALYSIS OF NARRATIVE FUNCTION BY VLADIMIR PROPP’S THEORY IN THE FILM HACKSAW RIDGE
ABSTRAKSI :
The narrative function can be applied to the story and developed from certain behaviours of the characters. In this research, the researcher used Vladimir Propp’s (1968) thirty -one narrative functions theory as the main theory of this research. This research aimed to observe the type of narrative functions that exist in the film Hacksaw Ridge with emphasis only on the main character. To obtain some results, the researcher used the qualitative descriptive method. In this research, the researcher obtained twelve functions out of thirty-one narrative functions and nineteen data, they are Absention (1), Interdiction (2), Violation (1), Reconnaissance (1), Lack (3), Struggle (1), Branding (4), Victory(1), Liquidation (1), Pursuit (2), Rescue (1), and Solution (1)..
