PERSONALITY TRAITS AND MORAL VALUES REFLECTED IN RAPUNZEL AS THE MAIN CHARACTER IN TANGLED MOVIE
ABSTRAKSI :
Well-crafted characters often mirror real-life people’s personality traits and moral values, enabling them to connect emotionally and intellectually with audiences. This research aims to identify Rapunzel’s personality traits and moral values in Tangled movie using a qualitative descriptive method. The analysis focused on Rapunzel’s actions, dialogues, and scenes based on Costa and McCrae’s (1992) theory of personality traits and Linda and Eyre’s (1993) theory of moral values. The findings showed that there were 62 data on Rapunzel’s personality traits consisting of high openness to experience with 13 data, high conscientiousness with 6 data, high extraversion with 7 data, low extraversion with 1 datum, high agreeableness with 27 data, low agreeableness with 1 datum, high neuroticism with 6 data, and low neuroticism with 1 datum. Additionally, there were 43 data on Rapunzel’s moral values consisting of honesty with 3 data, courage with 7 data, peaceability with 2 data, self-reliance and potential with 8 data, self-discipline and moderation with 1 datum, loyalty and dependability with 2 data, respect with 5 data, love with 7 data, unselfishness and sensitivity with 5 data, kindness and friendliness with 2 data, and justice and mercy with 1 datum. The results imply that fictional characters like Rapunzel can reflect real-life people’s personality traits and moral values. Therefore, literary works play an important role in character and moral education for audiences.
