SUBTITLING STRATEGY ANALYSIS OF DIRECTIVE SPEECH ACTS IN JOJO RABBIT MOVIE
ABSTRAKSI :
This research analysed subtitling strategies that are used to translate directive speech acts in Jojo Rabbit movie. The data in this search is the script dialogue and Indonesian subtitle from Disney+ Hotstar. The problems of this research are what types of directive speech act found in the original and Indonesian version of the subtitle of Jojo Rabbit movie and its shift as well as what subtitling strategy applied to translate the directive speech acts in the subtitles for this movie. The objectives of this research are to identify the directive speech act found in the original and Indonesian subtitle of Jojo Rabbit movie and its shift as well as the subtitle strategy used in translating the directive speech acts in the subtitles for this movie. The researcher used qualitative approach by utilising Searles directive speech acts theory and Gottliebs subtitling strategies. The results of this research showed that there are nine directive speech acts in original and Indonesian version of Jojo Rabbit movie, seven directive speech act shifts, and eight subtitling strategies that are used to translate the subtitle of this movie.
