THE IMPACT OF COLONIALISM IN INDIAACCORDING TO E. M. FORSTER'S NOVEL

ABSTRAKSI :
When we read a novel, we can find some elements on it. Whether it is a theme, setting, characters, plot, point of view etc. In analyzing the novel “ A Passage To India “, the writer use a Post- Colonialism Approach, because this novel deals with colonialism in India. The main purpose from this study is to find out the impact of colonialism especially in India. The writer use a qualitative research, which to find out what is post- colonialism approach?. The writer found that the impact of colonialism is not only in politics and economics, but also in racism, education, religion, costume etc. “ Passage To India “ is Forster’s last novel. The book is not really about politic. It’s about something wider than politic, about the search of human race for a more lasting home. This novel talks about, the conflict between the Indians and the British peoples because of races and misunderstanding. It also describes to us about the community in India under the British Colonial Government. In general, it is an interesting novel to read, because from it we know about the effect of colonialism in one country, especially in India.
