The Translation of Sexual Expression and Sexual Organs from English to Indonesian in Sex Education on Netflix Original Series
ABSTRAKSI :
This study aims to find out the translation concerning the type of sexual expression and sexual organs, euphemism, orthophemism and disphemism, from English into Indonesian of web-television series called Sex Education on Netflix. The term euphemism comes with orthophemism and dysphemism which mean indirect, neutral and offensive. While euphemism is used to soften or manipulate taboo, impoliteness and profanity, dysphemism utilizes harsh language or even taboos-tic phrases. Orthophemism refers to direct expressions, straightforward speaking neither euphemism nor dysphemism. These sexual expressions and sexual organs can be classified as Euphemism, Orthophemism and Dysphemism, each of the type has its own characteristics, and this study aims to find out/ aims at find out the types of sexual expressions and sexual organs in the source language and makes inquiry on how those types are translated into Indonesian. These three terms can be found in the web-television and the aim of this study is to clarify and analyze how these terms are translated into Indonesian. The method applied in this research is descriptive qualitative with the strategy of an embedded case study. The source of data is a web-television series on Netflix called Sex Education and its translation. The result shows that there are many words, phrases and clauses from SL classified into orthophemism, and dysphemism, and the type of source language to the target language has shifted, but there is also a translation in the target language can be the same.
