Abstrak

This study aims to determine the strategies used as well as the reasons and the process of acculturation. The subjects were couples of different countries that have been married for more than 5 years. The method used is a method of qualitative research in the form of case studies. Data collection techniques using interviews and observation. Interview guides are made, adapted from Acculturation Strategies by JW Berry. The results showed subjects a husband uses a strategy of integration and assimilation while the wife subject using a strategy of integration in the process of acculturation. Both subjects using integration as a subject wants to defend the values and the culture of origin subject either accept cultural values couple with knowledge of the culture of the couple and learn about the culture. Assimilation strategy husband used the subject due to the positive things that come subject to change mindset of the subject to be better and adopt the culture of origin subject. The process of acculturation two subjects fairly well because a good adjustment to the subject, the subject not concerned about the differences that exist but rather think of mutual understanding and to understand one another.
