AN ANALYSIS OF THE HERO'S JOURNEY IN HERA FROM THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE WAR OF THE ROHIRRIM MOVIE
ABSTRAKSI :
This research investigates a character’s journey using Campbell’s Hero’s journey or Monomyth which is used to explore the heroic transformation of a character in narratives, and in this Research is a movie. Through a descriptive qualitative approach, this Research aims to find out what are the hero’s journey that appeared in the character Hera from The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim movie and to examine how each stage contributes to her transformation into a hero. As a result of this Research, there are twelve out of seventeen hero’s journey phases found in the movie. She undergoes the three main stages of the hero’s journey, which are the departure stage, initiation stage, and return stage. These phases reflect Hera’s transformation from a princess who only had freedom without purpose to a strong, heroic figure. Hera’s journey shows significant changes, both physically, mentally, and emotionally, which are in line with Campbell’s concept. Thus, this framework not only shows the journey of a character, but it also gives meaning to the character’s development process.
