Analysis of Figurative Language in Oasis Selected Songs
ABSTRAKSI :
Figurative language was capable of expressing meaning because it provided readers with imaginative pleasure. This research is analyzed based on the theory of Perrine Laurence (1992) which is described as having 12 types of figurative language. The purpose of this research was to classify types of figurative language and to find out the types of figurative language that are most often found in the Oasis selected songs. This research used qualitative descriptive methods. The results of this research shows that out of 12 types of figurative language, six (6) types of figurative language were found in the lyrics with 51 data using figure of speech. The figurative language found was similes (4 data), metaphors (33 data), hyperbole (2 data), symbols (7 data), metonymy (4 data) and paradox (1 data). Based on this research, metaphor is the most common type of figurative language found in Oasis selected songs. (ix + 37 + 4) References, (1944 - 2022)
