THE SPHERES OF ACTION AND NARRATIVE FUNCTIONS ANALYSIS IN THE OLD GUARD MOVIE AND THE WOMAN KING MOVIE BASED ON VLADIMIR PROPP’S THEORY
ABSTRAKSI :
This research analyzed characters in the Old Guard movie and the Woman King movie by using Vladimir Propp‘s theory of seven spheres of action and thirty-one narrative functions. The problems of this research are what spheres of action and narrative functions are found in the Old Guard movie and the Woman King movie. The research used qualitative approach with descriptive analysis by utilizing Vladimir Propp‘s theory. In this research the researcher found 4 of 7 spheres of action, namely, hero (4 data), villain (4 data), false hero (1 data), and helper (3 data). Total data of spheres of action in the Old Guard movie and the Woman King movie is 12 data. The researcher also found 17 of the 31 narrative functions, namely, absentation (1 data), interdiction (2 data), violation (2 data), delivery (1 data), villainy (8 data), beginning counteraction (2 data), departure (2 data), struggle (1 data), victory (3 data), rescue (4 data), unfounded claims (4 data), difficult task (2 data), solution (1 data), recognition (1 data), exposure (1 data), and punishment (2 data). Total data of narrative functions in the Old Guard and the Woman King movie is 42 data.
