ABSTRACT Muhamad Andika, Translating and Analyzing The Book of ‘Temukan Fakta Penting Dinosaurus’, Scientific Writing. English Literature Department. Faculty of Letters and Cultures. Gunadarma University. Jakarta. 2026. This research analyzes the English-to-Indonesian translation of the children's science book Spot 50 Dinosaurs (2011) by Steve Parker, locally adapted into Temukan Fakta Penting Dinosaurus (2015) by Tunggul Pramandyo Dipo. The study aims to evaluate how much source material was retained, simplified, or removed, and to identify the specific translation techniques employed based on the theoretical framework of Molina and Albir (2002). Utilizing a descriptive qualitative method and textual documentation analysis, the data is drawn from ten select dinosaur entries representing the Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous periods. The findings reveal that the translation primarily operates under the communicative translation method to accommodate young Indonesian readers, relying on domestication strategies. Furthermore, the analysis shows a total of 162 data units containing 10 distinct translation techniques: literal translation (31), established equivalent (23), modulation (18), reduction (17), amplification (14), linguistic amplification (14), transposition (12), borrowing (10), description (2), and discursive creation (1). The study concludes that the chosen adaptive and borrowing strategies successfully bridge linguistic gaps while preserving the instructional integrity necessary for a specialized children's publication.
