Abstract A narrative is a description of events. This research analyzed narrative functions by using Vladimir Propp’s theory. This research aims to discover the narrative functions and the most dominant narrative functions in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse movie. The method of this research uses a qualitative method. The data are dialogues from the script and pictures of scenes from the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse movie. The researcher found 25 data out of 31 narrative functions in the movie, there are: (1) reconnaissance, (1) delivery, (2) villainy or lacking, (1) mediation, (1) counter-action, (1) departure, (1) first function of the donor, (1) hero’s reaction, (4) receipt of a magical agent, (3) guidance, (2) struggle, (2) branding, (1) victory, (1) liquidation, (1) return, (3) pursuit, (1) rescue, (3) unrecognized arrival, (1) unfounded claims, (1) difficult task, (1) solution, (1) recognition, (1) exposure, (1) transfiguration, and (1) punishment.
